April 21, 1910-May 18, 2002COAL GROVE -- Earl Roy Shearer, 92, of Coal Grove died Saturday at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Carter County, Ky., native was born April 21, 1910, the son of the late Arthur and Spicey Colley Shearer.
He was the husband of the late Dorothy F. Sites Shearer.
He retired from the Dayton Malleable Iron Company in 1972 in the maintenance department and he was a farmer. He attended Lost Creek School in Greenup County, Ky. and attended Moore Street Baptist Tabernacle in South Ashland, Ky.
He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Campbell Shearer; one son, Roy Darrell Shearer; a sister, Elizabeth Waddell; two half brothers, Clifford and Vernon McGinnis; and a half sister, Lucy Broughton.
Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Margaret Hammond of Portsmouth, Deloris Jean and Charles Massie of Waterloo, Shirley Ann Finney of Orange Park, Fla., and Jennie Lou and Richard Frasher of Lucasville; one son and daughter-in-law, Lewis Edward and Bonnie Shearer of Franklin Furnace; one step daughter, Margaret Jane Massie of Kitts Hill; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Alma Glore of Grayson.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rock Massie officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
