Dorothy Rye

June 15, 1930-June 16, 2002Dorothy Jean Rye, 72, of Ironton died Sunday at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky.
The Ironton native was the daughter of the late Robert David and Nancy "Nannie" Barr Casey.
She was the wife of the late Herbert Rye, who passed away Dec. 24, 1998.
She was a retired LPN, where she was employed by Dr. A.J. Payne and Dr. R. and P. Canos in Ironton. She was a member of Central Christian Church, where she sang in the choir. She was a member of the Order of the Easter Star, where she was a past worthy matron; and the Business Professional Women's Club; and she was an avid bowler. She was a 1948 graduate of Ironton High School and St. Mary's School of Nursing. She had lived all her life in Lawrence County.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom Casey and Robert "Bob" Casey.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Holmes of Ironton and Carolyn and Dan Lintner of Kitts Hill; and four grandchildren, Ian Frazer of Ironton, Andy Lintner of Kitts Hill and Melissa Holmes and Michael Holmes, both of Ironton.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Central Christian Church, with ministers Alan Tison and David Mize officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Christian Church, 1541 South Seventh Street, Ironton, Ohio 45638.
