A Chesapeake man set to go to trial next week for drug charges changed his plea Thursday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.
Kevin Canterberry, 47, of 77 Township Road 1503, pleaded guilty to five of 30 counts of deception to obtain a dangerous drug, one third-degree count and four fifth-degree counts.
It was negotiated that the other 25 counts would be dismissed in exchange for Canterberry’s guilty plea.
Judge Charles Cooper sentenced Canterberry to three years in prison for the third-degree count and one year in prison for each of the fifth-degree counts. Cooper ordered the fifth-degree counts run concurrently with each other but consecutively with the three-year sentence for a total of four years in prison.
Cooper also ordered Canterberry to pay a $2,500 fine and suspended his driver’s license for one year.
