FIREBRICK, Ky. -- When it comes to basketball, it seems Karl Malone and John Stockton do everything together.

That includes autograph jerseys.

John Carpenter, who owns the world's largest private sports memorabilia collection, added some new items last week courtesy of the Utah Jazz star players.

Malone and Stockton each sent an autographed jersey, one a visitor's jersey and the other a home jersey.

"I talked to Frank Layden (Jazz general manager) about some type of souvenir and he said he'd talked to them. I never dreamed they'd send me an autographed jersey," Carpenter said.

Malone is one of the top scorers in NBA history, and Stockton has more career assists than any player to ever play the game.

Not only did Carpenter get the two items in the mail, he brought home yet another souvenir from the National Hoops Classic.

Oak Hill (Va.) Academy, which had been ranked No. 1 in the nation, played in the classic and coach Steve Smith had his players autograph a jersey for Carpenter.

Besides owning his prize collection, Carpenter is responsible for securing teams for the Hoops Classic including Oak Hill Academy. This is the ninth year Carpenter has worked with the Classic which originated in 1988.

"This was my ninth Classic and each one continues to get better," Carpenter said.

Besides being featured in Ripley's Believe It Or Not, USA Today, and many collectible magazines, Carpenter will also appear on an ESPN's Outside the Lines over the holiday season.
