Two people are in the Lawrence County Jail after allegedly assaulting an acquaintance.

Friday night, Stephanie K. Harshberger, 26, of 10020 State Route 243, South Point, and her boyfriend, Carl F. Noble, 39, of 12 Township Road 606 (Polecat Road), Ironton, allegedly picked up Duane White, 38, of Ironton, Deputy Wes Collins of the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office said.

At 10:50 p.m., Collins said the car's driver pulled off the road into a driveway of one of Noble's relatives on Township Road 179 (LaGrange-Royersville Road). Officers have not determined whether Harshberger or Noble was driving the car, Collins said.

Harshberger and Noble allegedly sprayed White with spraypaint, hit him in the head with a car door, and pushed his face into a deep mud puddle. Neighbors heard noise and called the police.

Officer Luke Prince of the Hanging Rock Police Department responded as backup.

Three children, ages 16, 12 and 8, were also in the car with Harshberger and Noble. They all gave statements to police, Collins said. The children were relatives of Noble's, and were turned over to another relative.

White suffered head and facial injuries, and was transported to Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

Collins said Harshberger and Noble were both intoxicated when they were arrested and both were allegedly trying to steal a prescribed narcotic from White.

Collins said White was also intoxicated with alcohol allegedly supplied by Harshberger and Noble.

Both Harshberger and Noble have been charged with two counts of felonious assault, a first-degree felony, and one count of aggravated robbery. They will be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Ironton Municipal Court.
