The snow may be falling, but some Lawrence Countians are thinking springtime, sunny skies and flags waving in the wind. And they're hoping others will follow suit.

The deadline for paying dues to be a member of the Ironton-Lawrence County Memorial Day Parade Committee is March 1.

"If you become a member, you get to vote and participate in motions that are brought up," parade committee secretary Jan Wisenberger said. Right now, there are approximately 30 members who are meeting monthly to plan the 2003 edition of the parade.

The parade committee has also established a new e-mail address: memorialdayparade@ironton.org.

"People who want to email entries may use this address," parade committee member Lisa Irish said. "It's easy to remember and hopefully this will encourage more floats and make the parade a little bit bigger and a little bit better."
