CHESHIRE -- Not only did the South Point Lady Pointers season go down to the final game, it went down to the final seconds.

Needing a win to gain a share of the Ohio Valley Conference basketball championship, freshman Jessi Craft sank two foul shots with five seconds left to give the Lady Pointers a 59-58 triumph Wednesday over the River Valley Lady Raiders.

South Point tied Rock Hill for the OVC championship. Each team was 8-2.

Pointers coach Dave Adams said the Lady Pointers have used the same script all season.

'We've had so many games like that. We get a lot of balanced scoring. Everybody stepped up all year," Adams said. "No one picked us to win the league at the beginning of the year, so this means a lot to our girls."

South Point trailed by 7 points late in the fourth quarter, but a foul and then technical foul on River Valley helped the Lady Pointers get back in the game.

Craft made two free throws, Allison Perdue sank another foul shot and Latisha Koukas hit a basket as South Point closed within 2 points and set up Craft's winning free throws.

River Valley missed two free throws with 11 seconds left when Craft got the rebound and then scored the game winners.

"I told (Craft) if she got the rebound, go all the way to the basket. They fouled her and she made the free throws," Adams said. "Jessi has hit the game-winner a couple of times this year."

South Point raced to a 12-2 lead to start the game as Jamie Moore scored 6 points. Perdue scored 9 points including a pair of 3-pointers, but River Valley rallied to get within 31-29 at the half.

"We knew coming in it would be a tough game," Adams said.

Nicole Watkins scored 8 points in the third quarter as River Valley rallied to take a 43-40 lead.

Craft then scored 11 points in the fourth quarter including 7 of 8 from the line as the Lady Pointers connected on 11 of 17 free throws.

South Point (15-7) was led by Craft with 17 points -- 14 in the second half. Perdue scored 15 points.

Watkins scored 20 points and Ashley Davies had 14 to lead River Valley.
