The president does it. The governor does it. Ironton City Schools Superintendent Dean Nance will do it too.
On July 31, Nance will meet with the city board of education and deliver a state of the schools address. Generally superintendents or other top schools officials report to the board on a regular basis and in an informal way about the district’s standing and future plans. This year the city schools will do it differently.
“This is something the board and I want to do,” Nance explained. “The board likes to be well-informed. This is a good way to communicate.”
Nance said but it would be nice to have a large audience to attend the school board meeting, he also hopes to have the meeting videotaped and aired on the local educational access channel.
The board meeting and state of the schools address will be at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
