WESTWOOD, Ky. - Kevin Milem will have to wait at least another day to get his first coaching win.

In fact, he'll have to wait on an official game.

The South Point Pointers scored a run in the seventh inning to tie the Fairview Eagles in a game suspended after seven innings tied at 7-7.

Tyler Staton started on the mound for the Pointers. He had five strikeouts, five walks, and allowed seven hits in seven innings.

"Tyler Staton got in some jams and battled his way out of there. He showed some grit tonight," Milem said.

Fairview had scored single runs in each of the first three innings to take the lead, but the Pointers tied the game with three runs in the top of the fourth. The rally was highlighted by Caleb Copley's run-scoring single.

But Fairview came right back to score four times in the bottom of the inning to go back in front 7-3.

South Point got within 7-6 in the sixth inning when Seth Craft tripled with the bases loaded.

The tying run scored in the top of the seventh when Staton walked, Justin Workman was hit by a pitch, and Dale Kinney delivered a run-scoring single.

Copley was 3-for-3 with three RBI while Kinney was 3-4 with a double.

The game will be completed at a future date. The Pointers hosts Huntington (W.Va.) High at 1 p.m. Saturday.
