BEAVER - It was a good weekend.

The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings had three Southern Ohio Conference games in two days, and they came away with three league wins.

"It was good weekend. To get those league wins under your belt makes a difference," Lady Vikings coach Jeff "Odie" Estep said.

Not only did the Vikes get three wins, but one victory was a 16-0 no-hitter by Mandy Estep in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday against Beaver Eastern.

Estep struck out 16 batters and walked just two in going the distance.

"Mandy threw real well and kept them off-balance," coach Estep said.

Symmes Valley used 18 walked and eight hits to get the lopsided win. Amanda Provens had a three-run double in the second inning and a two-run single in the fourth. Provens went 2-for-4.

In the second game, Kristen Crabtree and Lori Harmon combined on a two-hitter. Crabree went five innings for the win as she struck out 11 and walked one. Harmon notched the save as she struck out four of the six batters she faced.

Symmes Valley took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Harmon and Stephanie Burns walked, Kayla Bowman singled in a run, and Jodi Black hit into a fielder's choice as a run scored.

Two more runs crossed the plate in the second.

Megan Coomes was safe on an error, stole second, Cassie Myers singled her to third, and Harmon reached on an outfield error as a run scored. Burns then singled home the final run.

Burns went 2-3 and Bowman 2-4.

On Friday, the Lady Vikings knocked off Portsmouth Notre Dame 4-1 as Harmon hurled a two-hitter. She racked up 15 strikeouts and walked two.

After two scoreless innings, the Vikings scored a run when Mandy Estep walked to start the inning, moved to second on a passed ball, took third when Cassie Myers reached on an error, and scored on Harmon's sacrifice fly.

Notre Dame tied the game in the sixth. Bowman tripled to start the inning and scored on Plymale's base hit.

But the Lady Vikings answered in the bottom of the inning with three runs to take the lead for good.

Erin Martin, Black and Estep all walked to load the bases. A wild pitch scored Martin, Crabtree lofted a sacrifice fly, and another wild pitch scored Estep.

Symmes Valley, 7-2 and 5-0 in the SOC, hosts Portsmouth Clay Monday in a league game.
