COAL GROVE — The 2010 season at the Rocky Top Raceway will unofficially get underway on Saturday with the annual “Test N’ Tune” day. The Test N’ Tune day gives race teams a chance to shake down their cars before the season officially begins the following week.
For the race fans, Test N’ Tune day gives a chance to get up close and personal with the cars and drivers since every person in attendance receives a pit pass.
“We’re really excited to get the track back open on April 10th”, stated RTR promoter T. J. Layne. “With all of the positive changes we have made, I believe 2010 is going to be a great season for our fans and drivers.
“We have strengthened our schedule, added more money to purses, increased fan promotions, and have made facility improvements such as a new track exit and bigger pit area among other things. Not to mention, there are many new race teams this year. It truly is an exciting time for dirt track racing in the area.”
Gates will open at 10 am for Test N’ Tune and the track will be open until 8 p.m. All classes of cars, whether it is a weekly class at RTR or not, are welcome to come and practice.
Admission is $10 and everyone in attendance will receive a pit pass. The pit band will be good for the whole day so those in attendance can come and go.
The seventh season of racing at RTR will officially get underway on Friday, April 16, with the “Opening Night” races featuring a full program of Late Models, AMRA Modifieds, Bombers, and Mod Lites.
