After nearly 25 years with the Dawson-Bryant school district, Treasurer Steve Sites resigned two weeks ago, citing personal reasons.
Sites tendered his resignation at the last board meeting, effective immediately.
When contacted by phone last week, Sites did not want to elaborate on the reasons for his resignation saying only that it was for personal reasons, and he is looking into other opportunities.
"It is not under bad terms," he said. "The board, the superintendent and all the staff members have been great."
Superintendent James Payne said the district is focusing on finishing this school year and that it will be up to the board to hire Sites' replacement.
"We are moving forward in-house, but right now are focused on graduation," he said. "The board may make a decision to hire (permanently) in house or look outside the school for a replacement."
Two people, Sandra Benson and Teresa Lawless, may be hired to fill the position on an interim basis.
