Several arraignments and a guilty plea were on last week’s Lawrence County Common Pleas Court docket.

Donald J. Workman, 29, of 106 Township Road 616, South Point, was arraigned on one count of tampering with evidence. He pleaded not guilty through his attorney, John Kehoe.

Judge D. Scott Bowling allowed a bond posted in a lower court to continue and added a $2,500 own recognizance (OR) bond to it. He must return to court July 11 for a pretrial conference.

Lavenna Fairchild, 31, of 4668 State Route 650, Ironton, was arraigned on four counts of theft of drugs (phentermine and hydrocodone). She pleaded not guilty through her attorney, William Eachus.

Bowling set a $20,000 OR bond and scheduled a July 18 pretrial conference.

Gregory Riggs, 22, of 7685 State Route 243, South Point, was arraigned on charges of assault and tampering with evidence. Assistant Lawrence County Prosecutor Mack Anderson said Riggs, who was in the Lawrence County Jail on other charges, got into a fight and got blood on his shirt; he tried to stuff the shirt down the toilet to hide it from corrections officers.

Riggs pleaded not guilty through his attorney, Warren Morford. Bowling set bond at $35,000 surety and added a $20,000 own recognizance (OR) bond to it. Riggs must return to court July 18 for a pretrial conference.

Nicholas Marcum, 30, of 763 State Route 141, pleaded guilty to charges of tampering with evidence and possession of drugs. Bowling sentenced him to four years community control sanctions under intensive supervised probation (CCS/ISP) plus 200 hours of community service.
