HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Nathan Kerns doesn't mind working overtime. Especially if it pays well.

Kerns had to work overtime Friday in the 10-12 age division of the Tri-State Junior Golf Circuit stop at the Riviera Country Club, but it was worth the extra work as he came away with a victory.

Kerns, from Ironton, won the third flight of the 10-12 division on the fourth hole of sudden death over Stu Doll of Portsmouth. Kerns finished with a 36 over the nine holes prior to the playoff.

Other area golfers participated in the field of 92, the largest turnout of the year.

Tyler Stapleton of South Point was second to Davey Fields in the 16-18 age division first flight.

Chesapeake's Phillip Butcher shot a 76 and Trent Finley a 78. Lance Ross of South Point had a 90.

In the 13-15 age group, Alex Brown of Ironton carded an 80 in the second flight, Matt Leadmon of Proctorville had a 101 in the third flight, and Ian Russell of Proctorville shot a 90 in the fourth flight.

South Point's Zac Taylor had a 42 in the first flight of the 10-12 age group.

The final tournament of the season is next Friday at Guyan Country Club.

Fees are $35 for 13-15 andf 16-18 age divisions, and $27 for the 10-12 group. Send entries to T-SJGC, P.O. Box 845, Proctorville, OH 45669. Entry deadline is 3 p.m Wednesday.
