COAL GROVE — You would be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn’t been touched by addiction or knows someone who has.
With those numbers growing, a local church and a counseling center is teaming up to offer support to those in need.
Trinity Church of God in Coal Grove and Steve Stuhlreyer & Associates of Cincinnati are joining forces to offer a seminar at the church for those who want help with their addiction or for people who know someone with an addiction.
The first seminar will be from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at the church, located at 111 Lincoln St.
“We wanted to do something that would open the door for people to receive help where it was not so expensive,” said Darrell Ford, pastor of the church. “The seminar deals with a variety of subjects that families experience related to drug addiction.
Some of the topic Stuhlreyer will cover at the meeting will be learning what to do in a crisis, how to offer forgiveness and managing anger, anxiety and depression.
There will also be time for consultations and questions after the meeting, Ford said.
“Rather than living in frustration and trying to do the same things over and over again, (people) need to seek some counseling on how to deal with these problems,” Ford said.
Ford said participants should pre-register with Stuhlreyer by calling (513) 258-1474. Cost for the seminar is $5 and can be paid in cash the night of the seminar.
