City officials are asking residents and visitors to refrain from having cars parked on the parade route and peripheral areas that are used to stage the parade on Monday.

The parade, which begins at 10 a.m. Monday, will begin at Fourth and Center streets, proceeds down Center and turns left at South Third Street, turns left at Quincy Street and then takes a final left on Sixth Street before returning to Fourth Street.

Additionally, adjacent streets used to stage the parade are also off-limits Monday.

They are Center to Etna streets and all streets in between including Lawrence, Railroad and Buckhorn streets from Second Street to Sixth Street and the area around Moulton Field which is used for the 12th (horse) Division.

Mayor Rich Blankenship is asking people to remove any cars that may be parked in these areas to allow for the 12 divisions of the parade, which often involve 2,000 to 3,000 people, to line up and then march in the parade.

The city can issue citations to those who do not comply with this order.

The parade usually last three hours.
