A large truck crashed through a guard rail and went over an embankment in a Friday afternoon accident on U.S. 52.

Trooper C.W. Knapp of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Mark A. Clendenin, 34, of Buckeye Lake was driving a large truck in the right-hand lane of U.S. 52 near the State Route 93 exit when a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass driven by Victoria R. Mack, 22, of Columbus cut in front of him from the left-hand lane. Mack was trying to enter the exit ramp, Knapp said.

Mack's vehicle struck the left front fender of Clendenin's truck and likely flattened a tire, Knapp said. Clendenin applied his brakes, and his truck crashed through the guard rail and went over the embankment.

Mack was not injured in the crash, Knapp said.

Southeast Ohio Emergency Medical Services and Ironton Fire Department personnel freed Clendenin from the vehicle.

He was transported to King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

Mack was cited for changing lanes without caution, Knapp said.
