It was like a touchdown at the end of a long run for Cody Hunt or a sack to end a game for Caleb Bland.
Chesapeake Panthers running back Cody Hunt capped a stellar career by being named to the Associated Press Division V All-Ohio first team Wednesday.
Bland, a senior lineman for the Symmes Valley Vikings, was a first team All-Ohio selection in Division VI on the AP team.
Hunt, a 5-foot-8, 160-pound senior, was the Southeast District Div. V co-Offensive Player of the Year along with Wheelersburg junior quarterback Tom Kaskey.
Hunt rushed 189 times for 1,106 yards an scored 17 touchdowns. He had more than 3,100 yards rushing for his career. He helped the Panthers win two straight Ohio Valley Conference titles and qualify for the postseason playoffs in each of the past three seasons.
The 6-4, 235-pound Bland was not only one of the Vikings top tacklers and sack leader, he was the Southern Ohio Conference Division I two-time Lineman of the Year.
The Vikings won back-to-back SOC championships - the first in school history - and qualified for the postseason playoffs.
Several other area players were named to the All-Ohio special mention list.
Chesapeake landed three players including Curtis Hamlin, a 6-6, 240-pound senior lineman who had 71 tackles.
Also named special mention for the Panthers were 6-3, 195-pound senior center Jeremy Miller and 5-6, 145-pound senior defensive back Caleb Robbins.
