HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- Amy and Aaron Bundy of Ironton hadn't planned on New Year's Eve festivities.

No big parties, no champagne. But by the time New Year's Day rolled around, they had one beautiful reason to celebrate.

At 9:08 p.m. Jan. 1, the Bundys welcomed their new baby into the world, and in so doing, gave St. Mary's Medical Center its only New Year's Day baby - in fact, she is likely Lawrence County's first baby of the new year.

"I hadn't planned on anything because I really thought I'd be in the hospital," Amy Bundy said.

Turns out, Mom was right. Labor started at 3 p.m. on New Years Eve.

They entered the hospital three hours later. Hollyann Kathleen Bundy was born the following evening, weighing 8 pounds, 1 ounce and measuring 20 inches long.

"It's always especially nice for the people who work here to have a New Years baby," St. Mary's Medical Center Manager of Marketing and Public Relations Director Dan Londeree said.

"This was the only New Year's Day baby we had."

"I'm happy she's healthy," Dad said. "That's all I can ask for."

Mom and Dad brought the new baby home Saturday and that was the first opportunity for big brother Aaron to see his little sister.

Like dad, Aaron Todd II is just getting over the flu.

Paternal grandparents are Ron and June Bundy of Ironton. Maternal grandparents are George and Ethel Ulrich of Proctorville.

With the arrival of Hollyann, both Mom and Dad are emphatic that this will be the last New Year's Day- or any other day- they spend waiting for the stork.

"We're complete," Dad said.

"I think this is it," Mom agreed. "We feel blessed."
