PEDRO - The South Point Lady Pointers are back in the race.

After losing their first two Ohio Valley Conference games, the Lady Pointers beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 51-38 Monday to get within a game of the OVC lead.

"We played better," Lady Pointers coach Dave Adams said. " We took care of the ball better. I thought we rebounded better and cut down on our turnovers."

Alisha Bridges had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead South Point, 2-7 overall and 1-2 in the OVC. Jessi Craft added 11 points and Elisha Joyce eight.

Keshia Rupp had a game-high 18 points to pace league co-leader Rock Hill (3-5, 2-1). Marie Bamer added 11 points.

"We didn't shoot well and we didn't play with a lot of intensity," Rock Hill coach Bob Wilds said. "South Point just outplayed us in every phase of the game."

Bridges and Rupp matched each other with four points as South Point took a 10-9 first quarter lead.

Craft had eight points in the second quarter as the Lady Pointers pulled away to a 27-18 halftime lead. Rupp and Bamer combined for eight of Rock Hill's nine points in the quarter.

"The second quarter was big for us. We built a lead and then kept them from making a run in the second half. That's a big win for us. Rock Hill always seems to play well on their floor," South Point coach Dave Adams said.

Rock Hill got within 36-28 after three quarters, but Bridges scored six points and Amy Frasure hit a key 3-pointer in the fourth quarter as South Point pulled away.

"They got in a zone and (Frasure) hit a big shot," Adams said.

In the reserve game, South Point (5-3) won 32-26 as Missy Wheeler scored 15 points and Vanessa Rogers 7. Tara Sharp had 11 points and Katrina Settle 7 for Rock Hill.
