Female Flyers rally to beat Lady Tartans; Lady Vikings rout New Boston on the road

SCIOTOVILLE - The St. Joseph Female Flyers are learning the art of comeback wins.
Trailing for three quarters, the Female Flyers rallied in the fourth quarter to beat the Sciotoville Portsmouth East Lady Tartans 40-34 Wednesday.
Christina Harvey led the Female Flyers with 18 points. Raven Blake scored 12 and Lindsay Dressel added eight.
Shellie Morrison had nine and Kerissa Bennett eight for East.
The Tartans led 10-5 after the first quarter, but Harvey scored seven points and Blake six in the second quarter as St. Joseph closed to within 20-18 at the half.
Harvey netted six more points in the third quarter, but East added to its lead at 29-26.
The Flyers defense held East to five points in the fourth quarter while Blake scored six points and Harvey four to rally St. Joseph to the win.
St. Joseph is now 3-5 on the season.

NEW BOSTON - It's usually a tough place to play, let alone win. But the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings made it look easy.
Rebecca Capper scored a game-high 19 points to pace Symmes Valley to a Southern Ohio Conference win at New Boston Thursday.
Leslie Floyd was next with 17 points as the Lady Vikings improved to 4-10 overall and 3-7 in the SOC.
Capper also had five rebounds, eight assists, and three steals while Floyd had seven rebounds, five assists and two steals. Megan Coomes pulled down eight rebounds and Brittney Wilson had four rebounds as the Lady Vikings totaled 43 as a team.
"All of our girls played pretty well," Lady Vikings coach Lisa Bryant said. "We are still turning the ball over too many times We are rebounding better and playing better defense."
Abbey Marshall scored 13 points and pulled down 20 rebounds for the Lady Tigers. Jessica Waugh had 12 points, four steals and two assists and Megan Lancaster added 13 points and four steals.
The Lady Vikings raced to a 19-7 lead in the first quarter and were never headed. The cushion was 34-19 at the half.
"Floyd and Capper had a good game along with Brittney Wilson and Megan Coomes," coach Bryant said. "Everyone who went into the game contributed in some way. We are still working and refining our game, and hopefully we can get something started in terms of more wins going into the end of the season and be ready for the sectionals."
Both teams scored 18 points in the third quarter and Symmes Valley continued to pull away in the fourth quarter.
