Buddy Fry is now in charge of Ohio.
Fry, of Willow Wood, has been named the president of the Ohio State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), following the recent resignation of Tom O'Keefe of Cincinnati.
Fry has been a member of the NWTF since 1979, a member of the state board of directors in 1997 and has served as vice-president of the state chapter for the past three years.
"I look forward to working with the state board of directors, the Division of Wildlife, and other agencies in promoting all the projects of the NWTF in Ohio," Fry said.
"The NWTF has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years and I am excited and honored to be president at this time in the organization's history."
The NWTF is a non-profit conservation organization with headquarters in Edgefield, S.C. The group has more than 500,000 members in the United States and 11 foreign countries.
Ohio has membership in excess of 12,000 members in 92 local chapters. Local banquets raise money that is used for youth conservation and safety education, women's outdoor programs and projects assisting disabled hunters.
Money raised is also used to buy or assist the Ohio Division of Wildlife in buying land for public use as well as other Division projects.
Since the inception of this Super Fund in the 1980s, more than $2.4 million has been spent on projects in Ohio, including $78,000 to assist the Division of Wildlife with the purchase of the Crown City Wildlife Area.
