A Proctorville woman pleaded guilty to a second-degree felonious assault charge Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Kristin McMillian, 36, of 1751 State Route 775, was handed a handkerchief as she stood in front of Judge Charles Cooper.

Cooper sentenced McMillian to six years in prison. McMillian said she does not plan to appeal the decision.

McMillian admitted that she stabbed her husband Jack McMillian, on Dec. 19, 2011. Jack McMillian was treated at Cabell-Huntington Hospital for his injuries.

In other cases:

• Ronnie Rowe, 58, of 92 Private Road 2526 County Road 22, waived his right to a speedy trial.

Another pretrial was set for June 6 and a trial date was tentatively set for June 28.

Rowe has been in the Appalachian Behavior Clinic and will continue to stay there pending the resolution of his case. He was charged with aggravated burglary, assault on a police officer and criminal damaging.

• Thomas Ratliff, 20, homeless, was arraigned on one felony count of aggravated burglary and two misdemeanor counts of assault against two victims.

Ratliff’s bond was set at $100,000. His pretrial was set for May 2.

• Bobby Effingham, 40, of 403Fourth St. East Apt. 19, South Point, tested positive for cocaine and another drug before his court appearance.

Cooper raised Effingham’s bond from $45,000 to $90,000. Another pretrial date was set for May 2.

• Gary Thomas, 42, of 904 Fourth St. East, South Point, tested positive for marijuana prior to his court appearance.

Cooper doubled Thomas’s bond to $50,000.

The defense requested a continuance to gather additional information. Another pretrial is set for May 2.

• Cathy Christian, 53, of 61 Township Road 84 West, Willow Wood, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated trafficking and drugs.

Cooper sentenced Christian to four years in prison, a $25,000 fine and he suspended her license.

• James Edward Curry Jr., 20, of 107 Bowman St., Coal Grove, pleaded guilty to an aggravated trafficking and drug charge.

Cooper sentenced Curry to three years in prison, a $10,000 fine and suspended his license for six months.
