It is usually a superior who gives special recognition to fellow employees, but a state trooper recently presented his supervisors with a distinctive award.

Last week,

Trooper Paul Isgett presented five supervisors at the Ironton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol with a Patriotic Employee Award from the Department of Defense's National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

Isgett was pleased to honor his supervisors for their support of his duties as a Petty Officer 1st Class in the U.S. Naval Reserve. As a reservist, he must deploy two weeks once a year and work at his Naval duty assignment's unit one weekend every month.

With the country's increased level of readiness, Isgett has also participated in extra drill time with his reserve unit.

Post commander Lt. Carl Roark said all of the post's personnel are committed to supporting Isgett in his reserve duties.

"Our employees are very appreciative of the sacrifice Trooper Isgett and his family continue to make," he said.

The certificate stated, "For contributions to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America's National Guard and Reserve Force." Supervisors recognized included Sgt. Mike Gore, Sgt. J.P. Kisor, Sgt. Jim Hutton, Lt. Roark and Sgt. John Smith.

Trooper Isgett has been with the division for three years.
