A West Virginia man who violated his probation apologized not only to a judge but also to his mother Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Sean Travis, 30, of 2130 Miller Drive, Huntington, admitted to Judge D. Scott Bowling he failed to report to his probation officer as he was required to do when he was given probation, also known as community control sanctions.

Bowling extended Travis’ probation by a year, ordered him to pay

the rest of his $1,610 restitution, complete the relapse program at the STAR Community Justice Center and serve 200 hours of community service.

“I apologize for taking your time,” Travis told Bowling. “I’d like to apologize to my mom. I put her through a lot.”

Travis’ attorney, Mike Gleichauf, said Travis had done well when he was first placed on probation. He even completed a program at STAR.

But Gleichauf said Travis got into trouble in West Virginia. He said Travis has seen the error of his way and is “ready to stop this foolishness” and become a productive member of society.

Also Wednesday, Jamie Joe Lee Salmons, 19, of 108 Private Drive 1949 Chesapeake, pleaded guilty to a felony county of drug possession and misdemeanor counts of drug possession, endangering children and marijuana possession.

Bowling sentenced him to four years community control sanctions under intensive supervised probation (CCS/ISP) plus 180 days in jail, suspended, and fined him $150.

Jeffrey N. Row Jr., 38, of 198 Township Road 1106, Proctorville, pleaded guilty to one count of forgery.

Bowling sentenced him to four years CCS/ISP and ordered him to pay $428 to Papa John’s pizza and serve 200 hours of community service.

Sean Shields, 39, of 808 Kentucky Ave., Worthington, Ky., pleaded guilty to violating his probation by failing to pay child support.

Bowling sentenced Shields to six months in prison. Shields was placed on probation after pleading guilty to criminal non-support.
