Head-on crash sends four to area hospitals

ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP- A head on collision Friday morning injured four area people.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. J.P. Kisor said the collision occurred at 9:37 a.m. near milepost 6 on State Route 93.

Casey J. Roach, 18, of Ironton, driving a 1986 Monte Carlo, was southbound on that roadway and attempting to make a left-hand turn into a store parking lot when his car collided with a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Michael S. Cox, 33, of Pedro. Upon impact,

Cox's car went off the roadway and caught fire. Roach's vehicle left the roadway and struck a ditch.

Cox and a passenger in his vehicle, Joshua Boggess, 24, of Ironton, were taken to King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

Roach and a 17-year-old juvenile passenger his his vehicle were taken to Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky.

Roach was later transferred to St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.

Roach was cited for failure to yield right of way.
