Little goblins and "ghoul" friends take note: Trick or treat for all Lawrence County communities will be 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28.

Again this year, the Ironton Business Association will celebrate Halloween with a Safe Trick or Treat for children from 6-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25. The annual Halloween parade will follow. The parade route begins at Center and Third streets and continues down Third Street.

"This provides a safe and controlled environment for Ironton children to dress up and come and receive candy," Ironton Mayor John Elam said.

Area law enforcement agencies encourage parents to make sure their children wear clothing with reflective tape and carry a flashlight when they go for the goodies. Parents are also encouraged to inspect all treats before children eat any of it.

Other Halloween safety suggestions:

4Make certain outfits are short enough to prevent the child from tripping in it.

4Make sure face masks have large enough eye holes so that the child can see properly.

4Adults should always accompany young children.

4Stay within known neighborhoods and visit only the houses you are familiar with.

4Watch for traffic as you cross the street.
