WHEELERSBURG - That's a piece of it. Next week the Wheelersburg Pirates find out if they can get the whole pie.

Wheelersburg clinched at least a share of the Southern Ohio Conference Division II championship with a 35-7 rout of the Northwest Mohawks Friday. The Pirates, 7-1 and 3-0 in the SOC, need a win at Portsmouth West next week to win the title outright.

West needs a win to gain a share of the title.

"Our defense played well again," Pirates coach Tony Lewis said. "They scored seven points on the second team. We're looking forward to West."

Quarterback Tom Kaskey was the key weapon for the Pirates as he completed 8 of 10 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns while running nine times for 81 yards.

"(Our) offense in the first half scored on every drive (except the final possession)," Lewis said. "Kaskey threw the ball well and ran well."

Kaskey had a 47-yard keeper for a touchdown that put the Pirates up 7-0 in the first quarter. Brandon White bolted 24 yards for a score later in the quarter and it was 14-0.

Kaskey then threw touchdown pass of 36 yards to John Storey and 46 to Matt Watson as the lead grew to 28-0 at the break.

Brandon Jackson ran 1 yard for a third quarter touchdown to give Wheelersburg a 35-0 lead and Lewis emptied his bench the fourth quarter.

Cody Penn, who finished with 80 yards on 20 carries, scored in the fourth quarter as the Mohawks avoided a shutout.
