County OKs wastewater repair plans

The Lawrence County Commission took action Thursday to make repairs to area waste water disposal systems.

The Commission accepted a $56,986 emergency fund grant from the Ohio Public Works Commission to repair the Farmview Waste Water Treatment Plant.

"In September we had significant flooding on Symmes Creek and it damaged the pumps and control panels," said Doug Cade, manager of E.L. Robinson's Ironton office, engineers for the project. "We will have to replace the pumps and the electrical controls.

The total cost of the project is $63,318. Cade said he hopes repairs cam be completed within 30 days.

The commission also approved plans to replace 1,225 feet of pipe in the Booth-Eaton Road area of the Union-Rome Sewer District. The OPWC Capital Improvements grant is for $272,125. The total cost of the project is $302,625.

"We're starting the design work and we hope to have it out for bid by February," Cade said. "It should take four to five months."
