This would make quite a team.

Five local girls were honored on Tuesday when they were named to the Associated Press All-Ohio basketball teams.

Fairland Lady Dragons’ 6-foot-4 sophomore center Terra Stapleton led the way with a first team selection in Division III. Teammate Kelsey Riley — a 5-8 freshman — was named honorable mention.

Chesapeake Lady Panthers’ 5-11 senior Amanda Ruffner was selected to the second team in Division III and Coal Grove Lady Hornet’s 5-6 junior Ashley Adkins was named honorable mention.

In Division IV, St. Joseph Female Flyers’ 5-8 freshman Hannah Miller was named to the special mention list.

Stapleton averaged 21.2 points and 13.4 rebounds. She voted the Southeast District Player of the Year after helping the Lady Dragons to their first-ever 20-0 season and a second-ever berth in the regional tournament.

Riley was the team’s top defensive stopped averaging 5.2 points and 5.2 rebounds.

Ruffner — a Fairmont State recruit — averaged 23.4 points and grabbed 10.4 rebounds while scoring 1,356 points in her career.

Adkins led Coal Grove with a 15.0 scoring average. She also had 5.0 rebound and 2.0 assists per game.

Miller led the Female Flyers to their first sectional title in more than 20 years. Miller led St. Joseph in scoring (17.7), rebounding (9.4) and assists (2.5) while playing point guard.
