Lady Dragons step up in win over Raiders

CHESHIRE - With the game on the line, the Fairland Lady Dragons stepped up to the line.
River Valley kept putting the Lady Dragons at the foul line in the fourth quarter and they answered the challenge as they posted a 62-54 win over the Lady Raiders Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
The Lady Dragons converted 13 of 16 free throw attempts in the fourth quarter and 21 of 28 for the game as they improved to 6-9 overall and 4-2 in the OVC.
Brianna Davis had 23 points, six rebounds and three assists to lead the Lady Dragons. Megan Auxier added 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Kara Riley grabbed seven rebounds.
Beth Payne scored 22 points and Kristina Naylor 19 points for River Valley, 3-9 and 1-4.
Fairland led just 13-11 at the end of the first quarter and fell behind 27-24 at the half.
But the Lady Dragons outscored River Valley 16-9 in the third quarter to go up 40-36 and then used clutch foul shooting to seal the win.
