Collins Career Center enriches our community

Once again, voters are faced with an agonizing choice: Do we vote “Yes” or “No” on chipping in $1 or $2 per month to help folks obtain job training here in Lawrence County.
Through efficient management and inspiring leadership, the Collins Career Center has become the model career center in the entire state.
Many young people who were serious school dropout risks have been turned around and are now succeeding. The state will be matching the “extra” (not really extra) funds raised many times over, but they are really into helping those who help themselves.
If you haven’t heard all this before, please pay attention: Passing this levy is critical to your future quality of life and economic well being.
People trained at the career center can find good jobs and don’t have to sell drugs or steal copper to make a living!
They will pay taxes and be a market for Lawrence County stores, so you won’t have to traipse over to Kentucky or West Virginia so often to shop.
The gas savings from a couple of trips over there will offset your property tax increase.
Please do yourself a favor and vote “YES.” I can’t interest people in bringing jobs to an area that won’t support job training.
