Man taken to hospital for cuts to the head

UPPER TOWNSHIP — An Ironton woman was taken to jail and her boyfriend to the hospital after a heated argument allegedly turned violent Wednesday.

A Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy was called to a house on Township Road 44 Wednesday evening after a man alleged his live-in girlfriend hit him repeatedly in the head with a glass ash try and bit his arms. The victim also said drinking and arguing led up to the fight.

According to Deputy Brian Chaffins’ narrative of the incident, the victim also had older lacerations around his throat and neck, which he alleged were from his girlfriend trying to cut his throat in his sleep a few days before.

The girlfriend, Teresa Wicker, 51, was found by the deputy hiding in a barn nearby.

Wicker told the deputy she and her boyfriend had been drinking when he became bossy and telling her what she could and could not do.

According to Chaffins’ narrative, Wicker said, “being told what to do makes her very angry and that she blacked out and has no idea what happened.”

Wicker was arrested and taken to the Lawrence County Jail, charged with domestic violence and felonious assault.

The victim was taken by ambulance to King’s Daughter’s Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
