Local basketball stars
to meet at Rio Grande
Georgetown (Ky.) College will play at Rio Grande University at 6 p.m. Thursday in a game that will feature three former area standouts.
Former Ironton All-Ohio guard Jessica Waddle plays for Georgetown while former Ironton forward Janie Morris and former South Point center Tinisha Taylor play for the Red Storm.
Ironton Little League
schedules registrations
The Ironton Little League will conduct registrations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, Feb. 25 and March 3, at Bob Linn Sporting Goods.
All players — boys and girls — ages 4 to 16 may register at this time.
Anyone interested in being managers or coaches this season should apply at this time.
Rock Hill Little League

The Rock Hill Little League will conduct baseball and softball registrations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rock Hill pre-school. Registrations are for youths from tee-ball to junior and senior league.
Ironton tournament
tickets now on sale
Tickets for the Ironton Fighting Tigers’ boys’ sectional tournament games are on sale for $5 in the high school auto shop through Friday, Feb. 24.
Ironton only receives 25 percent of the advance tickets sales. Fans are encouraged to buy in advance.
The boys play at 8 p.m. on Saturday at Jackson High School against the winner of the Oak Hill vs. Portsmouth West game.

Tickets for the St. Joseph Flyers boys’ Division IV sectional tournament game are on sale in the high school principal’s office.
Tickets are $5 and the school receives 25 percent of the presale.
The Flyers play at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Meigs High School against South Gallia.
Chesy boys, girls tourney
tickets now on sale
Tickets for the Chesapeake Panthers boys’ tournament game are on sale in the high school principal’s office and Dave’s Exxon while girls’ district tournament tickets are on sale in the high school principal’s office.
Tickets are $5 and the school receives 25 percent of the presale.
The Chesapeake girls play at 6:15 p.m Thursday at Waverly’s downtown arena against Adena.
The Chesapeake boys play at 6 p.m. on Friday at Jackson High School against South Point.

Tickets for the Symmes Valley Vikings’ boys’ Division IV sectional tournament game are on sale in the high school principal’s office.
Tickets are $5 and the school receives 25 percent of the presale.
The Vikings play at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Meigs High School against Waterford.
SV softball team hosts
annual rummage sale
The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings softball team will host their sixth annual rummage sale from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 3, in the high school gym.
Anyone who would like to make a donation may drop off the items at the school from 4-to-8 p.m. on Friday, March 2. If an item needs to be picked up, contact coach Odie Estep at (740) 643-2371 (school) or 643-2021 (home).
South Point tourney
tickets now on sale
Tickets for the South Point Pointers sectional tournament game are on sale for $5w in the high school principal’s office. The Pointers play at 6 p.m. Friday at Jackson against Chesapeake.
FLL baseball, softball
registrations announced
The Fairland Little League will conduct baseball and softball registrations for ages 4-16 at The Clubhouse.
Registration will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday.
Tryouts will be held Saturday, March 17. Rainout date on March 18.
Tryouts will be at 11 a.m. for ages 9-10 and 12:30 p.m. for ages 11-12.
Registration fee is $25 for players selling candy and $50 for players not selling candy.

New players need a birth certificate and three proofs of residence.
Opening Day is April 14. A parade and cookout are planned.
