Symmes Valley puts it together to blank Jeeps 10-0 for sectional title

AID - The puzzle is starting to piece itself together.
The Symmes Valley Vikings are hitting stride at the right time as they stopped the South Webster Jeeps 10-0 in just five innings Friday to win the Division IV sectional tournament.
"Everything has been falling together for us the last five or six game. We came out and played real well. Hopefully, we can keep it going," Vikings coach John Patterson said.
Symmes Valley, 11-7, will try to keep it going at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the University of Rio Grande in the district semifinals.
Cory Burcham fired a two-hitter as he shut down the Jeeps. Burcham struck out four and walked two.
"Cory did a nice job for us,"
Patterson said.
Symmes Valley had 14 hits with Justin Holland going 3-for-3. Matt Owens and Burcham were 2-3 while John Wiseman was 2-2. Kyle Meadows cracked a home run.
The Vikings jumped on the Jeeps for four runs in the first inning.
Burcham doubled, Holland singled and Owens doubled in a run. Meadows then hit a three-run homer.
Symmes Valley added a run in the second inning when Holland singled, moved to second base on a passed ball and scored on a hit by Owens.
The lead went to 7-0 in the third inning.
Brice Sexton and Wiseman singled, Jon Dillon was hit by a pitch to load the bases, and Burcham singled in a pair of runs. Holland singled to drive in the final run of the inning.
The Vikings got two runs in the fourth inning to set up the mercy rule win.
Chase Higgins walked and scored on a double by Jesse Myers. Justin Walsh singled to score Myers.
Symmes Valley, 11-7, plays at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the University of Rio Grande.
