Two Kentucky men arrested last month in a trafficking in synthetic marijuana case were arraigned Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Robert B. Holley, 45, of 316 Clay Hollow Road, Ashland, was arraigned on two counts of trafficking in spice while Joshua W. Tackett, 32, of 19000 W. Highway 60, Olive Hill, was arraigned on one count of tampering with evidence.

Each pleaded not guilty through attorney W. Jeffrey Moore. Both men also immediately waived their right to speedy trials.

Judge D. Scott Bowling allowed bonds set in Lawrence County Municipal Court to continue but added a $20,000 own recognizance (OR) bond to each man. Both Holley and Tackett must return to court March 28 for pretrial conferences.

November 2011 and January law enforcement raids on the Counter Culture Shop, near Wal-Mart in Burlington, netted an estimated $20,000 worth of synthetic marijauna and other such items that became illegal in October after a state law revision.

Also Wednesday, Paul D. Lowe IV, 25, of 34 Private Drive 170, Chesapeake, pleaded guilty to one count of theft and one count of theft of a firearm. Bowling sentenced him to four years community control sanctions under intensive supervised probation (CCS/ISP).

He must also successfully complete a rehabilitation program at the STAR Community Justice Center. Lowe was accused of stealing tools and a Ruger .38 revolver from a Lawrence County man in November 2011. Lowe told Bowling he had never been in trouble until this episode and planned for it to be his last.

“I’ll do my best never to be back in here again,” Lowe said.

Jared Enyart, 27, of 103 Fourth St.E., South Point, pleaded guilty on a bill of information to one count of forgery and one count of theft. Bowling sentenced him to four years CCS and ordered him to successfully complete a rehabilitation program at the STAR Community Justice Center.

He must also pay $1,186.97 in restitution to his victim. Enyart is accused of stealing checks from a family member and using them to make purchases at Walmart SuperCenter in Burlington.

By pleading guilty on a bill of information, Enyart admits guilt for the charges against him, avoids further court appearances and the judge immediately imposes a sentence.

Everett C. Dean, 22, of 24 Township Road 1336, Chesapeake, pleaded guilty to tampering with a coin machine and was sentenced to four years CCS/ISP.

He must also successfully complete a rehabilitation program at the STAR Community Justice Center.
