Kenneth Fairchild

Kenneth D. Fairchild, 76, of Ironton, passed away Sunday Jan. 29, 2012.

The Hanging Rock native was born Feb. 3, 1935, to William Walter and Mary Mabel (Starke) Fairchild. Kenneth was husband to Phyllis (Plymale) Fairchild for 54 years; father of Kevin (Valerie) Fairchild, Cary Fairchild, Treva (James) Walker and Stacy Fairchild.

Kenneth was a 1953 graduate of Ironton High School and graduated from The Ohio State University School of Dentistry in 1961 after receiving his bachelor’s degree from OSU. After serving as a captain in the U.S. Air Force, he started his dentistry practice in Ironton in 1964 where he provided services to countless patients for 35 years. He was an active member of many community and civic organizations and a longtime member of the Central Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Dencil “Polly” Fairchild; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Wanda Fairchild; brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Maxine Fairchild; sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Cary Goodner; sister and brother-in-law, Reba Jean and Ervin Tordiff; and sister and brother-in-law: Susie and James Carr

In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Mildred Fairchild; sister and brother-in-law, Minerva and Kenneth Hughes; grandchildren, Erin Walker, Ryan Walker, Rachel Walker, Colleen Walker and Shannon Walker, Alex Fairchild, Audrey (Jason) Diebler, Kyle Fairchild, Lucas Fairchild, Annette Fairchild and Marie Fairchild; two great grandchildren: Alaina and Alexa Diebler; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church with Minister Jim Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Wendell Sweetser

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Wendell E. Sweetser Jr., 63, of Huntington, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was the husband of Sandra Farris Sweetser, who survives. There will be a private family service. Hall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Larry McClellan

HOUSTON, Texas — Larry Allan McClellan, 60, of Houston, formerly of Ironton, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2012 at his residence. He was the husband of Mary Lynn Weber, who survives. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Klein Memorial Park in Pinehurst. Arrangements are under the direction of Aldine Funeral Chapel.
