WILLOW WOOD — There is a oldies song by the Monkees that was called, “This Just Doesn’t Seem To Be My Day.”
The Symmes Valley Vikings were hearing that song over and over Tuesday night as they lost 60-25 to the Eastern Eagles in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
The Vikings were just 10 of 46 from the field for 21.7 percent including a dismal 1 of 13 from behind the 3-point line.
The also converted only 4 of 15 free throws including 2of 11in the first half.
“We had wide-open looks and couldn’t hit them,” said Vikings’ coach Jerome Fuller. “If we had hit our free throws in the first half it would have kept us in the game. But give Eastern credit. They looked good tonight.”
Chad Lands scored 17 points, Aaron Satterfield 13 and Tavarus Pickett 11 to lead the Eagles who remained unbeaten in the SOC at 10-0.
Austin Baldwin had 8 points and 7 rebounds for the Vikings (6-9, 6-4). Alec Herrell added 7 points and Mitch Corn had 5 rebounds.
Eastern led 15-8 after the first quarter and the Vikings managed just 4 points in the second quarter as they fell behind 28-12 at the half. It was 42-18 after three quarters.
