PEDRO — Moving the ball is keeping the Fairland Lady Dragons on the move.

Ball movement helped Fairland to a rare good shooting night at Rock Hill and the Lady Dragons cruised to a 70-17 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Redwomen on Thursday.

“We shot better. We usually don’t shoot well here. Our passing is helping our shooting. We’re moving the ball well and getting it to the open person,” said Fairland coach Jon Buchanan.

The Lady Dragons shot almost 41 percent as they made 29 of 71 shots including 27 of 60 from the 2-point range.

Terra Stapleton had 23 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocked shots to lead the unbeaten Lady Dragons (15-0, 8-0).

Chelsea Harper scored 8 points for Rock Hill (6-10, 0-8).

Stapleton scored 13 points in the first quarter as Fairland grabbed a 20-5 lead. The Lady Dragons outscored the Redwomen 18-6 in the second quarter to lead 38-11 at the break and then limited Rock Hill to just 6 points in the second half.

Both teams were missing starters. Fairland was without Kayla Swiger while Brook Knipp and Megan Johnson did not play for the Rock Hill.

Fairland plays East Carter, Ky., at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Ironton Shootout.
