PINE GROVE - An Ironton duo was the difference in a dual.

Dennis Gagai and Nathan Kerns shared medalist honors Thursday as the Ironton Fighting Tigers won a dual match with the Meigs Marauder, 153 to 164.

Gagai, a senior, and Kerns, a freshman, both shot a 1-over 36 at the Ironton Country Club course.

"It was a good team effort. We were right on our team score average," Ironton coach Jeff Kerns said. "Dennis and Nathan had good rounds again, but we had several guys play well."

Seth Christian had another good round as he finished one stroke back at 37. Blake Roth had his best round of the season with a 44 to complete the Ironton scoring.

Also playing for Ironton were Jay Rudmann and Gavin Harbolt who each carded a 45.

"There's always somebody to step up. Blake had a good round. He added to our depth," coach Kerns said.

Dan Bookman shot a 40 to lead Meigs.

Ironton, 47-3, plays at the Riverside Invitational hosted by Meigs on Saturday and then in the sectional tournament Tuesday at Shawnee Golf Course in Portsmouth.
