Property crimes and probation violations were among the cases heard last week in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.
Leroy A. Campbell II, 26, 1921 Township Road 170, Chesapeake, pleaded guilty to one count each of grand theft of a motor vehicle and attempted grand theft of a motor vehicle.
Judge D. Scott Bowling sentenced Campbell to four years community control sanctions under intensive supervised probation (CCS/ISP). Campbell must also successfully complete a rehabilitation program at the STAR Community Justice Center, complete 100 hours of community service and pay $1,000 in restitution jointly and severally with his cohort, Johnny Carter, 29, 11183 County Road 1, Chesapeake. Carter pleaded guilty to the same charges last week. Carter was also sentenced to four years CCS/ISP and was also ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution.
Justin M. Callicoat, 18, of 1505 Lawrence St., Ironton, pleaded guilty on a bill of information to one count of receiving stolen property.
By pleading guilty to a bill of information, Callicoat admits his guilt and proceeds to the punishment phase of his case. He avoids having his case heard by a grand jury or common pleas jury. Bowling sentenced him to four years CCS/ISP and ordered him to successfully complete a rehabilitation program at STAR. Callicoat must also complete 100 hours of community service.
Adam L. Honaker, 23, of 595 Township Road 267, Waterloo, admitted he violated his probation by failing to report to his probation officer on a regular schedule.
Bowling ordered him to successfully complete a rehabilitation program at STAR and complete 100 hours of community service. Honaker will remain in jail until he is sent to STAR. Honaker was on probation after he pleaded guilty last year to one count of menacing by stalking.
Henry L. Murnahan, 37, of Garrison, Ky., was arraigned on two counts of criminal non-support.
In asking for an own recognizance bond, Murnahan’s attorney, Philip Heald, pointed out Murnahan has two small children and is concerned about being able to care for them. Heald said Murnahan is gainfully employed as the maintenance man for rental property in Flatwoods, Ky.
Bowling set bond at $5,000 cash but allowed him to post 10 percent of it, plus a $25,000 own recognizance bond.
