A Detroit man arrested on drug charges was among those entering guilty pleas Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Lord D. McIntosh, 19, pleaded guilty to one count of fifth-degree felony trafficking in crack cocaine, third-degree felony trafficking in trafficking in crack cocaine, second-degree felony possession of crack cocaine, first-degree felony trafficking in crack cocaine and fifth-degree felony possession of criminal tools.

Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge Frank McCown sentenced McIntosh to four years in prison followed by three years community controlled sanctions.

McIntosh was given credit for time served in jail awaiting conclusion of his case. McCown said if McIntosh exhibits good behavior while in prison he may be eligible for judicial release after two years.

Also Wednesday, McCown refused to allow a Kitts Hill man to withdraw his guilty plea to a third-degree felony forgery charge after the man admitted he was trying to buy time to spend with his ailing mother.

Bryan Willis, 23, 161 Township Road 248 W., first told the court he was not guilty of forgery and this prompted his request to change his plea.

&#8220I didn't sign the check and I didn't cash the check,” Willis said. &#8220I don't know what I'm guilty of but I'm not guilty of forgery.”

Assistant Lawrence County Prosecutor Bob Anderson reminded Willis he had earlier admitted to Ironton police Sgt. Tony Forest he was guilty.

&#8220I'm not going to allow you to withdraw your guilty pleas,” McCown said. &#8220There is no factual or legal basis for it.”

Willis then told McCown he had only wanted to buy himself more time to spend with his mother who recently was released from the hospital.

Willis was sentenced to six months in prison but given credit for 59 days served in jail awaiting conclusion of his case.

Also Wednesday, Jason Clifton, 34, 2021 S. Second St., Ironton, signed a bill of information charging him with fifth-degree felony breaking and entering Wednesday. Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge Richard Walton sentenced Clifton to 90 days in the Lawrence County Jail and four years community controlled sanctions under intensive supervised probation. Clifton was given credit for time served in jail awaiting conclusion of his case.Walton warned him that if he violates the terms of his probation, he could be sent to prison for 11 months.
