From a child's perspective, downtown Ironton will be the hippest possible place this evening - a place to see and be seen and leave with a bag full of goodies.
The annual Safe Trick-or-Treat, sponsored by the Ironton Business Association, will begin at 5 p.m. The Halloween Parade will follow at 7 p.m.
“It will be a steady stream of people from 5 o'clock on,” said IBA President Rich Patrick. “One year, I think they said there were about 1,200 kids. Yes, it will be a steady stream of people until it ends.”
Approximately 15 businesses will hand out goodies. Patrick said the point of the annual event is to allow businesses a chance to give back to the community and to draw people downtown.
Throughout the county, traditional trick-or-treat will be next Monday from 6- 7:30 p.m.
