Knipp, Redwomen top Sciotoville East, 52-41

PEDRO — The Rock Hill Redwomen needed a shot of confidence, so Brook Knipp played the role of doctor.
Knipp scored a career-high 19 points as the Redwomen beat the Sciotoville East Lady Tartans 52-41 on Saturday.
“We needed to get back on the winning track. It gives a little confidence,” said Rock Hill coach Alvin Carpenter.
“Brook is a good shooter and her shots finally started going in for her. We can use her offense.”
Knipp also had 5 assists and 6 steals for the Redwomen (6-5) who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Katie Johnson had 14 points in the win while Chelsea Harper added 8 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Tommi Butler had 8 rebounds.
Emily Howard scored 16 points to lead East.
Johnson scored 10 of her points in the first quarter as Rock Hill took an 18-14 lead.
Knipp got 7 points in the second quarter as the lead went to 30-23 at the half.
The Redwomen were up 41-33 after three quarters as Knipp scored 6 more points.
Rock Hill stretched the lead to as many as 15 in the fourth quarter and coasted to the win.
The Redwomen host Chesapeake on Monday.
