Maxine Webb

Maxine Faye Webb, 80, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012 at the Community Hospice Center in Ashland, Ky.  The Yolin, W.Va. native was born April 17, 1931, the daughter of the late Harold and Bonnie Sisler Littlejohn.

Mrs. Webb was a homemaker and loved to cook. She was a member of Symmes Valley Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Rev. Harrison Webb on Nov. 28, 2007, in addition to three brothers Elmer, Robert, and Carl Littlejohn, one great granddaughter, Peyton Humphrey, a sister Charlotte McCarty, and a son-in-law Barry Bishop.

She is survived by daughter, Rita Faye Bishop of Ironton, daughter, Naomi and Larry Coleman of South Point; daughter, Freda & Rick Dillon of Ironton; son, Kenneth Ray and Susie Webb of Pedro; son, Floyd H. and Tammy Webb of Ironton; eight grandchildren; Jeremy Webb and his wife, Andrea, Trisha Drake and her husband, Greg, Adam Bishop, Derek Barnhart, Ryan Barnhart, Sarah Barnhart, Brittany Webb, and Kristy Coleman, who was also a special caregiver to Maxine; two step-grandchildren Aaron and Erica Dillon; four great grandchildren, Abigail and Jordan Webb, Tyler Webb and Emmerson Drake; a sister Ruth Bruce of Willow Wood; and a brother, George Littlejohn of Pedro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, Ohio with Rev. Jesse Sizemore and Rev. Leon Dalton officiating.  Burial will follow in Community Cemetery.

Orlyn Deprist

COLUMBUS — Orlyn H. “Bugs” DePriest, 84, of Columbus, took his heavenly journey to meet the Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012.  Orlyn was born in Lawrence County, Ohio on January 28, 1927, to Pearl and Tella (Aldridge) DePriest. He is preceded in death by his parents sisters, Genevieve Thompson and Barbara “Barb” Malone; brother, Gerald DePriest; sister-in-law, Martha Sites; brothers-in-law, Emery and Bobby Payton.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Barbara (Payton) DePriest; son, Michael G. DePriest; sister, Martha (Glen) Carmon; brother, Pearl “June” DePriest; grandchildren Micah and Brent DePriest; great-grandchildren, Damien and Angelic Gayebrella DePriest; sisters-in-law, Gertie (Ralph) Ackison, Marlene (Jack) Pemberton, Donna (David) Knipp, Beverly Payton, Floye (Sam) Cooke; brother-in-law, William (Sally) Payton; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

“Bugs” served as a Tech Sergeant in the US Army during the Japanese Occupation, 1945-1946, was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and the Gahanna Freewill Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with the service immediately following the visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Aid Cemetery in Aid. ASHLAND, Ky. — Julius Lamonte’ Lewis, 21-day-old newborn, of Ashland, Ky. passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Julius was born Dec. 13, 2011 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. He was the infant of Courtney Lewis Jr. and Christina Abrams of Ashland, Ky.

In addition to his parents, Julius is survived by maternal grandparents David E. and Lorinda Abrams of Coal Grove, paternal grandfather Courtney Lamont Lewis Sr. and Stacey of Ironton, paternal grandmother Crystal Birchfield and Toneisha Hunter of Columbus, maternal great grandfather Donald Gasper of Coal Grove, maternal great-grandmother Frances Salyers of Coal Grove, maternal great grandparents James and Belinda Harris of Coal Grove, paternal great-grandfather Herb Lewis of Ironton, paternal great-grandmother Jackie Birchfield of Ironton, paternal great-grandparents James Baker Sr. of Lexington, Ky. and Phoebe Lewis of Philadelpia as well as maternal great-great-grandmother Mable Abrams of Ironton.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Woodland Cemetery with Minister James Baker Sr. officiating. There will be no public visitation.

Hazel Wilson-Allen

Hazel L. Wilson-Allen, 84, of Willow Wood, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012 at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Cheshire, Ohio native was born Oct. 3, 1927, the daughter of the late Walden O. and Myrtie Beaver Darst.

Hazel was a 1946 graduate of Waterloo High School and Rio Grande University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She was a retired schoolteacher from Rock Hill and Symmes Valley School Districts. She was a founding member of Trinity Freewill Baptist Church where she loved attending services and playing the piano for them. She was always there, even when she could not get out of her car without help.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband William Patrick (Junior) Wilson, who passed away February 1984, her second husband Chester Allen, who passed away August 2001 and her foster parents that raised her James C. and Myrtle Wilson.

She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Everett Justice of Ironton; a nephew, David and Denise Justice of Ironton; two nieces, Rebecca and Gene Wilson and Karen and Scott Ingles all of Willow Wood; two great-nieces, Crystal Justice DeGroot of Raleigh, NC and Katrina Wilson of Willow Wood; and a great-nephew Reese Ingles of Willow Wood.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Trinity Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Wilgus Fairview Cemetery. Sheila Scarberry-Campbell

Sheila Margaret Scarberry-Campbell, 60, of Proctorville died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. She is survived by her husband John Campbell.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Huntington, W.Va. by the Rev. Ralph Strohm. Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville is in charge of arrangements.
