Darius Lewis did it on offense, Brandon Walker did it on defense, and the Ironton Fighting Tigers did it on the field.

Led by Lewis and Walker, the Ironton Fighting Tigers led the Division IV Southeast Ohio All-District selections announced Friday.

Lewis, a 6-foot, 220-pound senior, won his second straight district Offensive Player of the Year award as he ran for 1,041 yards and scored 18 touchdowns in just nine games, often sitting out the fourth quarter with big leads.

A 6-2, 205-pound senior, Walker led Ironton in tackles with 108, sacks with seven, five fumble recoveries and also had an interception.

Offensively, he caught 13 passes for 390 yards and four touchdowns.

Ironton, 8-2 in the regular season, landed six players on the first team, three on the special mention or second team and had two honorable mention selections.

Along with Lewis and Walker on the first team were two-way senior tackle Michael Phillips, senior fullback and defensive end Jared Murphy, senior defensive back and running back Eric Layne, and junior two-way

tackle John Paul Pemberton.

Voted to the special mention list were senior senior defensive back and end Todd Eaches, junior quarterback and defensive back Chad Miller, and junior two-way end Andy Colegrove.

On the honorable mention list were senior offensive tackle Jesse Carmon and junior guard Bruce Roach.

Rock Hill head coach Todd Knipp, who was 3-7 in his first season but 9-1 this year, was voted the district Coach of the Year.

The Redmen landed senior running back K.C. Christian on the first team along with senior lineman Drew McCaffery, senior defensive lineman Jeremy Mays and junior defensive back and kick returner Josh &#8220Deuce” Moore.

South Point junior quarterback Chris Smith and senior defensive end Jeremiah Taylor were first team picks. Fairland was represented on the first team by senior end Sam Huff and senior all-purpose player Adam Fuller.

On the special mention list were Rock Hill senior running back T.J. Blagg and two-way lineman Josh Moore, South Point linebacker Justin Thacker and running back Rocky Roe, and Fairland senior quarterback Rick Staggs who missed the first team despite throwing for more than 2,000 yards and 21 touchdowns.

South Point junior defensive back Jacob Orlando and Fairland senior lineman Wes Ripley were honorable mention.

In Division V, Coal Grove senior running back Justin Hyland, who rushed for more than 2,000 yards and scored 31 touchdowns, was voted the Co-Offensive Player of

the Year along with Adena running back Colton Coy who rushed for 1,889 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Hyland was the district's top offensive player as a junior, too.

The Hornets also landed senior guard Nick Bazell on the first team offense and senior lineman Jared Dever on the defense.

Senior defensive back Chris Chaffin and junior lineman Adam Bare were special mention.

The Chesapeake Panthers passing tandem of senior quarterback Caleb McComas and end Jeffrey Brandenburg were first team picks along with senior offensive lineman Andrew Ittig and senior defensive lineman Erik McWhorter.

Named special mention selections were junior fullback Kersten Harris and senior lineman Brad Eldred. Honorable mention went to senior running backs Cory Methax and Cody Methax.

The Symmes Valley Vikings (7-3) also had two players walk away with honors in Division VI.

Senior linebacker Matt Owens was the Defensive Player of the Year while senior running back Derek Carpenter shared the Offensive Player of the Year with Arthur Henderson of Portsmouth East.

The Vikings landed two-way senior lineman Alex Burnett, senior lineman Nathan Colegrove, junior placekicker and end Kyle Meadows, and senior defensive back Seth Saunders on the first team.

Sophomore quarterback Chris Capper and junior end Kirt Shipley were special mention.

The Green Bobcats head coach Kevin Sheridan was voted the district Co-Coach of the Year along with Justy Burleson of South Gallia.

Sheridan led Green to a 6-4 record, the school's first winning record since 1990.

The Bobcats landed senior fullback Mark Castro, senior quarterback Derek Lewis, senior end Dustin Williams and senior linebacker Andy Avery on the first team.

Senior linemen Ryan Klaiber, John Dawson and Brad DeHart were special mention.

Voting is conducted by a panel of sports writers and broadcasters.
