Jamie Lake
PROCTORVILLE — Richard “Jamie” Jamison Lake, 38 of Proctorville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, from Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.
He was born in Ashland, Ky., on Jan. 27, 1973, but lived his entire life in South Point. He was the son of Richard Thomas Lake and Judy Gail Keeney Lake. He is also survived by his wife, Evelyn Roe Plagianakos-Lake, whom he married Dec. 20, 2010.
Jamie was a graduate of South Point High School. He was a customer service representative for Direct TV and was a former kidney dialysis technician. Jamie was a member of Brookdale Freewill Baptist Church in Burlington where he was the adult Sunday school teacher and played his guitar and sang praises to his Lord and Savior. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, singing and playing his guitar.
He was preceded in death by a paternal grandfather, Edward Lake.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a brother, Eric Lake of South Point; a sister and brother-in-law, Amy R. and Justin Smith of South Point; maternal grandparents, Betty Wright of South Point and Norbert and Kathy Keeney of South Point; paternal grandmother, Garnet Lake of Ashland, Ky.; two nieces, Katie and Ryliegh Lake of South Point; three nephews, Blake and Trevor Smith of South Point and Dylan Lake of South Point; and many other nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastors David Heavner and J. C. Murnahan officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Arnold Reynolds
PEDRO — Arnold Ray “Red” Reynolds, 85, of Pedro, passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Mount Sterling native was born Oct. 17, 1926, the son of the late James and Nellie Niceley Reynolds. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bertha Mae Vincell Reynolds, whom he married Oct. 17, 1951.
Red attended Waterloo High School and was a U.S. Army WWII veteran, serving in Germany and Belgium. He retired in 1984 after working 40 years for Spriggs Distributing Co. in the warehouse and as a truck driver. He enjoyed farming, coaching Little League at Symmes Valley and a U.C.T. member for 35 years. He was a man who loved the Lord and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David L. Reynolds; and a grandson, Brian W. Reynolds; a sister, Alma Rose Barnett; and a brother, Melvin Reynolds.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary V. and Peggy G. Reynolds of Kitts Hill; granddaughter, Bridget N. Reynolds of Ironton; a grandson, Christopher D. Reynolds of Arizona; two great granddaughters, Alexandra (Lexi) Wade of Ironton and Sadie Grace Reynolds of Arizona; three nephews, Ritchie Barnett and Paul Barnett, both of California, and James Reynolds of Sydney; a niece, Debbie Delkamp, of Trenton, Ga.; and a brother in law and his wife, Don and Barbara Vencill of Ironton.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Darrell Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 8850. Margaret Knight
SARASOTA, Fla. — Margaret Louise Knight, 94, of Sarasota, formerly of Ironton, died Dec. 24, 2011.
She was preceded in death by her husband, D.W. Knight.
She is survived by son Kenneth Knight and his wife, Carol, of Burbank, Calif.; stepson, Ronald Knight and his wife, Virginia, of Stone Mountain, Ga.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Palms Memorial Gardens.
Michael McDowell
GALLIPOLIS — Michael “Mike” A. McDowell, 51, of Gallipolis, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Plain View Baptist Church, Maysville, Ky., with Pastor Albert Simmons. Burial will be in Hillcrest Garden of Memories, Maysville. Visitation is 10 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Hall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Carol Lawless
SHADE — Carol Jean Lawless, 75, of Shade died Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
Born Aug. 2, 1936, in Ironton, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Stella Gossett.
A graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School, she retired from McBee Corp. in the accounting and payroll department. She was a 45-year resident of Shade.
Carol is survived by a daughter, Mary Beth (Jason) Barron of Coolville; two sons, William “Bill” (Rochelle) Lawless of Middleport and Mike (Nancy) Lawless of Barlow; five grandchildren, Delana (Michael) Taylor, Cara Lawless, Tiffany Barron, Eric Barron and Augustus Barron; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Beverly) Gossett, Jr. of Coal Grove; a sister-in-law, Wanda Allen of Chesapeake; a brother in law, Bob Lawless of Ironton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Lawless in 2003 and a grandson, Travis Lawless.
Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday in Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with the Rev. Chris Stewart officiating. Entombment will be in Athens Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
