COAL GROVE — Menifee County was seeing double, and it didn’t look good.

Evan Melvin scored a game-high 23 points and Matt Melvin had 14 points as Coal Grove evened its record at 1-1.
Randy Wise added 13 points and Adam Bare scored seven.
“Evan and Matt did a nice job offensively. They hit some keys shots and Evan hit some big foul shots,” Waller said.
Cody Howard scored 21 points for Menifee County.
Evan Melvin had eight points and Matt Melvin four more in the first quarter as Coal Grove went ahead 14-8.
Wise drained three shots from behind the arc in the second quarter as Coal Grove held on to a 32-29 lead at the half.
“Randy didn’t score as many points, but he did a nice job of running our team. He’s the guy who holds us together,” Waller said.
Evan Melvin and Bare combined for 12 points in the third quarter but Menifee was able to get within 46-44.
Zach Murphy was 3-of-6 and Matt Melvin 2-of-4 from the line in the fourth quarter. Matt Melvin scored eight points in the quarter and Evan Melvin hit a 3-pointer.
