WILLOW WOOD - What is the best thing about living in Willow Wood?

It is the peaceful atmosphere and the people who live there, as far as two residents are concerned.

Tanna Steele and Melissa Jones work together at R&D Giovanni's in Willow Wood near the intersection of State Routes 378 and 141, the bullseye for this week's Dart.

&#8220We have just about everything,” Steele said of the store. &#8220It's a busy place.”

Many people come in and out of the store on their way home and before work or school, she said.

Steele has worked at the store for about two-and-a-half years. She moved to Willow Wood when she got married 14 years ago.

&#8220It is quiet,” she said when asked what was the best thing about living in Willow Wood.

&#8220Quiet and laidback,” Jones agreed.

R&D Giovanni's, according to Steele and Jones, is the only pizza place in Willow Wood and one of two gas stations in the area. Along with the pizza shop, dining room and grocery store, the store also has tanning beds - and they are open seven days a week.

&#8220We also have Flavor Burst ice cream. You can't get Flavor Burst ice cream for fifty miles,” Steele said.

Flavor burst ice cream is soft serve ice cream with flavor crystals, and according to Steele, it is very good.

Jones said along with the area being peaceful, it is full of good people that also make it a nice place to call home.

&#8220We have a good time out here,” Jones said. &#8220There are a lot of good people.”

The Dart is a weekly feature in which a reporter throws a dart at a map of Lawrence County and finds a story where it hits.
