Crash on bypass being investigated

CHESAPEAKE — A pickup truck traveling north on State Route 7 at about 1 p.m. Thursday dropped some debris and left the scene leaving a two vehicle accident in its wake.

Richard Mayo, of Gallia County, was traveling northbound on State Route 7 Thursday in a red Dodge Neon.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Dean Hunte said Mayo had stopped to avoid items that had come out of the back of a pick up truck.

A white Chevy Lumina driven by Joshua Finks of the South Point area struck Mayo’s vehicle in the rear causing Mayo’s vehicle to hit the guard rail.

Mayo was transported by SEOEMS to Cabell Huntington Hospital for evaluation.

The accident is still under investigation.

“We are attempting to locate the vehicle that dropped the debris on the roadway,” Trooper Hunter said.
